PROJECT-BASED LEARNING IN THE 21ST CENTURY

LANGUAGE: Languages used for the training: English, but many languages for 6+ groups. The language of the course can be arranged according to the characteristics of the groups in English, German, Italian, Spanish and Turkish.

COURSE BACKGROUND AND COURSE OVERVIEW:

The project-based learning is a new educational methodology that will provide the students’ academical and personal career improvement. So, they will reach their purposes more easily by means of this educational method. With these project-based methods, they will be able to plan their works more easily, they will order things more proper, and they will gain organization skills.

Then, they will be able to find the opportunity to show their knowledge skills. They will be more productive, and they will have the ability to thinking critically. In addition, they will improve their communication skills, and they will become more creative.

At the end of the implementation of this project-based learning, they will have a good balance, and they will have a chance to have creative energy between their teachers and them. And then, they will gain collaboration, cooperation, and team-building skills.

Project-Based Learning has three features:

  • It’s being inter-disciplinary:

It provides students’ having responsibility, and they have a chance to be experienced in solving problems related to the real world easily. It means that they will have their own work disciplines to challenge the world of their own. By doing so, they will have the ability to be experts in their own choices as a professional in their later lives.

  • It’s being hard-worked and planned:

Doing duties and tasks within the structure of a project will provide the students there being more planned, organized and ordered. In addition, in our lives, doing tasks with a plan will ease the works that we should do. So, the planning of the works and study with projects will help to the process of the studies.

  • It’s being student-centered:

This feature of PBL is more contributive to the students’ personal skills and improvements. This focus on the students will provide them an ordered life and professional skills for their future jobs and social lives.

In addition to this, participants will learn about the differences between project-based learning and problem-based learning. The main difference between them that students who complete problem-based learning often share the outcomes and jointly set the learning goals and outcomes with the teacher. On the other hand, project-based learning is an approach where the goals are set.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

To reach the cooperative learning skills

-To create team-building activities among students

-To provide and disseminate the using technological tools in education and reach the innovation standards.

-To promote the critical thinking and key actions of the students

-To improve the communication and social skills of the children

-All of these objectives’ and benefits of the PBL being gathered in a circle.

CONTENT AND METHODOLOGY:

This course’s content is mainly focused on the individual improvements and skills of the children and its relationship with the Project Based Learning. We focus on the point that empowers the mutual learning and the collaboration, and team-building activities of the children with the individual improvement growing in the society that they live in. So, at the end of the course, participants will also gain experience about the individual skills and team-work skills together and paralyzed to each other. This methodology is very inclusive, social and improving for our participants.

PREPARATION:

After confirming registration, participants will be informed about the details of the course (arrival, daily program). Participants will be able to introduce themselves and bring a few examples of routines and practices that they apply to their teaching.

FOLLOW UP:

The acquisitions that will be gained by the participants at the end of the course:

-They can provide their students with the module of learning by living. For example; if students want to learn how to cook, it can be practiced into a project that children can easily do. With providing them equipment that they can easily use and work on, the success rate on this PBL will be increased.

-They can help their students in using ICT and other technological and innovative tools. By learning technology, they will find the opportunities and abilities about gaining problem-solving skills, and they can learn about what they want to do. For example, by means of these technological tools, they will find the opportunity to develop their applications, games in the field that they want to work on.

-They can contribute their students’ success in their academical education by means of this PBL module. For example, they will have the ability to practice the elements what they learn in PBL education, in real life. Then, this will provide help to their educational exams and successes. They can easily learn about physics, mathematics, linguistic terms and even in writing essays.

-They can help their students’ using actively media tools and documents. With this way, they can both gain information about the high topics of the day theoretically and they can practice the media tools to develop what they want.

-They can learn about the differences between Project-based learning and problem-based learning.
