MIGRANTS EDUCATION

LANGUAGE: Languages used for the training: English, but many languages for 6+ groups. The language of the course can be arranged according to the characteristics of the groups in English, German, Italian, Spanish and Turkish.

COURSE BACKGROUND AND COURSE OVERVIEW:

The migrants and refugees’ issue are one of the main elements in EU societies. So, the education given by the teachers can be harder to include them to the education progress. A teacher should easily guide to all of his/her students. In order to do this, he should get some help from a training course. The migrants’ issue is one of the main topics in E+ projects funded by the National Agencies in the EU.  So, schools, institutions, and non-profit organizations are working on projects about these migrants and refugees.

This Course Contains:
Comparison of the countries of participants on how to
– Share knowledge about the situation,
– Raise awareness and enable a more informed opinion, tackle with social,
psychological and legal issues,
– Promote understanding of diversity and for European values.
Recognition and validation of competences of newly-arrived migrants
Promoting migrants’ employment and acquisition of jobs; a guidance and training model to be implemented in networking and community-building activities
Reception and individualization of learning paths for newly-arrived migrants
Pedagogical approaches to advance with non-native speakers
– Models and practical ways to support teaching
– Guiding migrants in studying and learning
Innovative learning approaches: simulation with work machines, e-Learning with mobile devices, Camera-Pen pedagogy, virtual glasses supporting learning
Possibilities for creating and delivering i-material for language learning by using m-devices (smartphones, tablets, laptops)
Pedagogical possibilities and models for delivering interactive language exercises; the use of translator apps ( Babylon, Google translate); creating i-materials for language learning including sound and video. (i-flashcards)

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

To include the migrant students to the normal education progress.

-To provide their gaining self-reliance, respect, regard.

-To give them education with the equal standards of other students.

-Teachers’ getting experienced with the immigrant issue and, in this way, they could be more directed to these students’ education. 

CONTENT AND METHODOLOGY:

General introductions to topics. Lectures, demonstrations, sessions, an individual search of information. Learning & sharing. Participants learn by following lectures, observing, working ‘hands-on’, sharing experiences and expertise about the topics, discussing in sessions and workshops. Creating output. Individual or teamwork on learning diaries, blogs, and Social media. Producing recommendations to be used in one’s own school and network. Validation The course participants will get a Certificate of active participation. The competencies acquired will be validated by the course organizers on the Europass mobility.

PREPARATION:

After confirming registration, participants will be informed about the details of the course (arrival, daily program). Participants will be able to introduce themselves and bring a few examples of routines and practices that they apply to their teaching.

FOLLOW UP:

Schools can contribute migrant and refugee children’s being out the trauma through psychosocial support integrated with social and emotional learning interventions, helping to build self-confidence, resilience and emotional regulation skills, and teaching children to create relationships based on trust with others
